Why was there a Need for an additional manual Jump? Assassin’s Creed Shadows Update 1.1.8 New Features Details

The new manual jump button has been added in Update 1.1.8 for Assassin’s Creed: Shadows by Ubisoft. Many players had been asking for this feature, and it can now be turned on using the Advanced Parkour option in the settings. The information was reported by IGN.

The update also adds a detailed stats page so players can better understand their character builds. There are also small visual improvements, such as clearer effects when landing critical hits. These changes have been received positively by players. However, IGN reports that this is the only major update planned for the first quarter of 2026. Earlier, the game received monthly updates for about nine months, which continued until December 2025.

The update comes just before the game’s one-year anniversary on March 20. Ubisoft plans to celebrate the occasion with a livestream and giveaways for players. The report also notes that post-launch support for Shadows has been smaller compared to some earlier games. For example, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla received larger expansions and new modes, while Shadows has had a more limited roadmap. Reports have also said that a planned cooperative multiplayer DLC was canceled.

Fans on X (Twitter) had different reactions to the announcement of a manual jump button, which shows the need for the update; some of them were happy with the addition, and others criticized it for being brought too late.

One player was happy because she thinks it will make parkour more fun and bring back the classic controls they liked before. She also praised Ubisoft for listening to fans and improving the game.

But the other one made jokes and criticized the company, saying it took too long to add such a basic feature.

One was even more upset, saying a manual jump button is one of the most basic things in a game and should have been there from the start.

In related news, the “Claws of Awaji” expansion, which completes the main story, is set to release for the Switch 2 on March 10. There are also rumors that a remaster of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag could arrive in 2026, but Ubisoft has not officially confirmed this.
