Sony is pouring more money and help into the new Kena game called Scars of Kosmora. They’ve added it to their PS Studios group, like their own top games such as Lost Soul Aside, Death Stranding 2, and Stellar Blade. Ember Lab, the small team making it, stays independent but gets treated like a Sony star title. It was shown at the February 2026 State of Play event and comes out later this year on PS5 and PC.

Ember Lab’s co-founder Josh Grier wrote on the PlayStation Blog how excited they are. He said: “Working with PS Studios lets us build a huge new world. It’s full of fun areas to explore, smart ways to grow stronger, and real adventure vibes. The first game got great love, and we want to make this one even better.” The trailers look amazing—with bigger places, sharper graphics, and more action.

The big new feature is “elemental infusions.” You get them by finding Spirit Companions during the story. Mix elements to fight better, like in Genshin Impact where fire plus grass makes super burns. It makes battles and exploring way more fun and varied.

This helps Sony grow its PS5 games lineup for 2026. Scars of Kosmora could be a must-play hit.

Public reactions on (X) Twitter show mixed opinions about the platform strategy.

One user argued that bringing the game to other platforms is necessary to generate more revenue, suggesting that PlayStation alone may no longer be enough to maximize profits.

Another user reacted in a happy and playful way. They said they hope the character gets a Spider-Man DLC skin, showing that they are excited about the idea of crossover content.

A third user expressed frustration, pointing out that the first game was originally presented as a PlayStation exclusive despite Sony’s financial and marketing support, but was later released on other platforms. This led them to question whether the Xbox port performed poorly.

The first Kena: Bridge of Spirits came out in 2021. Sony pushed it hard as a PS5 highlight. It had cute spirits, a touching story, and pretty visuals like a Pixar movie. People loved it, but sales were okay. Ember Lab started small in 2016 and used that game to shine. Now with Sony’s extra cash, tech, and ads, the sequel will be their biggest yet—perfect for fans of adventure games like Zelda.

Ember Lab hopes to keep what made the first one special while going bigger. Gamers are watching to see if it delivers.
