Re-Logic has released the 1.4.5 Bigger and Boulder update for Terraria today, January 27, 2026. The update comes exactly 15 years after the game first launched in 2011. It is free and available at the same time on PC, consoles, and mobile.
The biggest part of the update is two crossover additions. Terraria has added new crossover content from Dead Cells and Palworld. Players can now unlock Dead Cells–inspired items like the Beheaded outfit and the Mushroom Boi minion. From Palworld, you can summon Pals such as Digtoise and Foxparks to help you out.
A new Shimmer Water Gun lets players change NPCs, a Seed Menu allows players to choose how their world is created before starting, and transformation mounts, which let players turn into creatures like bats and rats to move around the world.
Other additions are centered around traps, a long-running part of Terraria’s design. New features like Boulder Rain and Rainbow Boulders expand on the game’s well-known boulder traps that many players use in builds and challenges.
Reactions on the r/Terraria Reddit thread are filled with nostalgia with fresh excitement.
Some users talked about their early days with the game, remembering when they first played it on older consoles and enjoyed basic moments like fighting enemies or setting off boulder traps, even before they fully understood how everything worked. Some said the update brought back strong childhood memories from those first play sessions.
At the same time, newer and returning players shared their excitement. A few were especially happy that the update dropped on special days like their birthday and were already planning to play as soon as they got home.

Version 1.4.5 was first announced in late 2022 and was expected to release in 2023. It was delayed several times as Re-Logic decided to add more content. Although Terraria’s main development was said to end in 2020 with the “Journey’s End” update, the studio has continued to release free updates.
With this release, Re-Logic has also made sure that all platforms receive the same content at the same time, bringing full parity across PC, console, and mobile versions of the game.
