Trump, 79, Revives Greenland Dream With Silly AI Picture

President Trump, who is 79, again shared his strange idea of buying Greenland. This time, he used a funny AI-made picture posted on the White House’s X account.

    Embrace the penguin. pic.twitter.com/kKlzwd3Rx7

    — The White House (@WhiteHouse) January 23, 2026

The picture shows Trump walking on ice toward Greenland, with a penguin holding a US flag. But penguins live in the southern part of the world, not near Greenland in the north. Even more oddly, the penguin’s footprints look the same as Trump’s, which does not make sense.
This post was shared just after Trump stepped back from his earlier strong threats.

Trump pushed hard for Greenland before the Davos meeting. He called it key for US safety and said to Denmark, “Say yes, or we’ll remember.” He even joked, “We want a piece of ice for world protection.” He threatened tariffs and military moves if they said no. This shocked friends like Canada’s leader Mark Carney. Carney said the world order is fading, where strong nations do what they want.

But the markets got nervous. After Trump talked about tariffs, stock prices dropped quickly. Seeing this, Trump backed down.
He changed his message to softer ideas, such as having more US military bases there, instead of taking full ownership. After that, markets recovered.

Because of this pattern, some people now call it his “TACO” style — Trump Always Chickens Out: he makes big threats first, then pulls back.
The AI-made picture feels wrong, but it shows how Trump thinks. It suggests a simple, unrealistic takeover, without caring about real facts or about upsetting allies and friends.
The penguin does not belong in Greenland, just like US ownership of Greenland does not match reality.

Trump has wanted Greenland for years for security reasons. But allies say no way—it’s not for sale. Denmark and locals reject it. This hurts ties with Europe.

    What Happened Step by Step

First, Trump told leaders at Davos that the U.S. must have Greenland for security, or there would be consequences.

Next, his talk about tariffs scared investors. Stock markets fell quickly.
Then he changed course. He spoke more softly about getting access to military bases instead of owning Greenland. After this, stock prices went back up.

Trump again expressed his intent to take over Greenland:

“The fact that they [Denmark] had a boat land there [Greenland] 500 years ago doesn’t mean they own the land. I’m sure we had lots of boats go there also.”

A few days later, the White House shared a strange and silly AI-made picture.
Overall, this episode shows Trump’s bold and dramatic style. Markets and allies limit how far he can go, but the drama is likely to continue in 2026.
