HYDERABAD, India (GizTimes) —Clear XR is a new test app that adds Apple Vision Pro’s cool eye-tracking streaming to PC VR games. It only works on Nvidia RTX 40 or 50 series graphics cards. This new trick, added today in visionOS 2.6, makes pictures super sharp right where you’re looking. It saves data and makes wireless streaming look way better.
You can grab Clear XR now from Apple’s TestFlight beta. It streams any OpenXR game from your PC to Vision Pro, beating tools like ALVR in picture quality. ALVR is a free app on the App Store since mid-2024 (after Vision Pro launched). It streams SteamVR games but doesn’t have this eye tech, so Clear XR makes VR feel more real on Apple’s headset.
Developer Stuart Charlton used Nvidia’s CloudXR toolkit to build it. CloudXR already supports Apple’s eye feature, so no need to start from zero. It sharpens the spot you’re staring at (called the fovea) and blurs the edges a bit, like how your eyes work. This means smooth 4K streaming over Wi-Fi without lag.
One downside: It only works on newer Nvidia cards (RTX 40 or 50). Older ones like RTX 3090 won’t cut it. If you have the right setup, test it today great for gamers who want Vision Pro’s clear view mixed with PC power.
Apple added this eye-streaming in iOS 2.6 today. It fixes what devs wanted since the Samsung demo. Vision Pro’s eye tracker tweaks quality live, perfect for cord-free VR.
ALVR started PC streaming to Vision Pro, but it looks fuzzy on weak Wi-Fi. Clear XR fixes that for any OpenXR game, like Beat Saber or Half-Life: Alyx. Early tests say images look amazing.
NVIDIA’s toolkit also powers special apps for games like X-Plane and iRacing on Vision Pro. Those align your real steering wheel in VR and hide it with the camera view. Clear XR doesn’t do that, but it works with way more games, no custom apps needed.
The announcement got a mix of reactions on X (Twitter), including feedback, questions, and excitement.
One user said they are having problems using the USB port to make things faster and are facing delay issues, although it has improved a little. This shows that the product still needs more work before it is ready for everyone.
Another user asked if it will support SteamVR soon, showing interest in using it with other platforms.
Meanwhile, another user said it looks very good and hopes it will work with Unity, showing they are excited about how it can be used in the future.
It connects Apple’s closed world to open PC VR, making the $3,499 Vision Pro better for big games. Clear XR makes it easier for Nvidia users. RTX 50 cards are coming soon, so more people can try. Right now, it’s awesome for wireless PC VR fans to play your full library with eyes doing the smart work.
