HYDERABAD, India (GizTimes) — Tesla may be working on a new vehicle designed to carry more passengers. CEO Elon Musk recently hinted at the idea, saying it could be “cooler than a minivan,” but did not share details about the design or launch timeline.

The comment came in response to questions online about Tesla’s future products. It also comes at a time when the company is focusing more on autonomous driving and transport services, which has slowed down the launch of new vehicle models.

The idea of a larger passenger vehicle is not new for Tesla. In earlier plans, the company had talked about building vehicles for high-capacity urban transport. While Tesla has launched products like the Semi truck, a dedicated people carrier has not yet been introduced.

Over the years, Musk has mentioned different ideas, including a minibus based on the Model X and even a possible partnership with Mercedes-Benz for an electric van. However, none of these ideas have reached production so far. Even Tesla’s tunnel transport system continues to use existing cars instead of purpose-built vehicles.

Recently, Musk also suggested that the Cyber-truck could work as a family vehicle, but that idea received mixed responses. Now, with this new hint, it appears Tesla could be thinking again about a more practical option for carrying more people.

Some believe Musk may be referring to a longer version of the Model Y, often called the Model Y L, which already offers three rows of seats in some markets. However, that model is based on an existing design and may not match the new concept he is hinting at.

Public reactions on Reddit and X feel quite casual and mixed. Some users are joking about Tesla’s ideas, saying it will probably end up being another Cyber-truck-based design. This shows a bit of doubt, as people feel Tesla often reuses the same style.

At the same time, a few users are clearly excited and think the idea sounds cool, even without many details yet. They are open to seeing what Tesla comes up with.

Others are thinking more practically. They said if Tesla is making a bigger family vehicle, it should also have better interiors and comfort, like what we see in the Model S and Model X. Overall, people are interested, but they also want Tesla to do it properly, not just come up with another unusual design.

For now, there is no official confirmation from Tesla about the vehicle. As with many of Musk’s early ideas, it remains uncertain if and when this concept will turn into a production model.
