HYDERABAD, India (GizTimes) – Lexus has introduced an all-electric version of its ES sedan for the 2026 model year in the United States, adding two new variants: the front-wheel-drive ES 350e and the all-wheel-drive ES 500e. A refreshed hybrid model, the ES 350h, is also expected to arrive soon.
The ES 350e delivers an EPA-estimated driving range of 307 miles. It is powered by a single electric motor driving the front wheels. The ES 500e uses a dual-motor setup, with one motor on each axle, providing all-wheel drive. Both models are equipped with a 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery and support charging through a NACS port.
Lexus is offering both electric versions in Premium and Luxury trims. Pricing for the ES 350e Premium starts at $50,090.

The new ES lineup is built on an updated version of Toyota’s TNGA-K platform, which now supports petrol, hybrid, and fully electric powertrains. In the electric models, the battery pack is placed under the floor, helping improve cabin space and balance. The hybrid ES 350h, expected shortly after the EV launch, will use Lexus’ sixth-generation hybrid system that will be available in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive options without any issues.
In terms of size, the 2026 ES is larger than the previous generation. It is 6.5 inches longer, has a 3.1-inch longer wheelbase, is 2.2 inches wider, and 4.5 inches taller. This increase translates to slightly more room inside the cabin.
The design also marks a shift from earlier ES models, which were closely linked to the Toyota Camry. The new version takes inspiration from the LF-ZC concept, featuring sharper lines and a closed-off spindle grille typical of electric vehicles.
Inside, Lexus has kept its focus on comfort. The cabin includes features like NuLux-trimmed seats, bamboo accents, dual wireless phone chargers, and support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The car comes standard with 19-inch wheels, with 21-inch options available.
The ES has long served as an entry-level luxury sedan for Lexus. First introduced in 1989 alongside the LS 400, it has completed eight generations. Howevelectricer, sales saw a slight dip in 2025, falling to just under 40,000 units.
Early reactions on Reddit are mixed but practical. Some users are happy that Lexus is still making sedans, especially for buyers who don’t want SUVs. But they also said the car’s success will depend on how it actually drives on the road.
Others felt the design looks too similar to a Toyota Camry in photos. At the same time, a few said videos show some differences, so they prefer to see the car in person before judging it.
There are also concerns about the electric version. Some users think the range and battery are not strong enough compared to other cars in this segment. A few even believe it may not sell well if improvements are not made, showing doubt about how it will compete with upcoming electric luxury sedans.
With the addition of an electric option, Lexus is expanding its approach to include multiple powertrains within the same model line. Whether the electric ES arrives at the right time, as EV demand shows signs of slowing in the US, will depend on how buyers respond in the coming months.
