ANUPPUR, India (GizTimes) —Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) is getting popular again on Steam. Over the weekend, it reached a new record of 61,667 players at the same time. This is more than the player count of the newer game, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. It sparked a debate among fans, who discussed how Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) was better than the new ones and why players were choosing the old one.

One big reason is the price drop during the Steam Spring Sale. The game is now selling for $5.99 instead of $59.99. Because of this low price, many people decided to buy and try the game.

When the game first came to Steam, it was not very popular. It only reached around 3,500 players at launch. Later, the number dropped to just a few hundred. Now, the sudden rise shows that many players are coming back.

Players are also talking about the story mode. Many say the campaign is dark, simple, and still enjoyable. When it was released, IGN gave it a score of 8.2 out of 10 and called it one of the best Call of Duty campaigns in years.

At the same time, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is not doing very well. Reports say it is struggling with sales and players are not staying for long. Because of this, some players are going back to older games like Modern Warfare.

Modern Warfare (2019) is also important in the series. It restarted the Modern Warfare story and later helped in the creation of Warzone.

The reaction on X (Twitter) shows that many players still have strong feelings about Modern Warfare (2019).

Some users are surprised that an older game can still attract so many players, and they believe it’s not just nostalgia but because the game itself is genuinely better.

Others are saying that people are finally starting to recognize it as one of the best Call of Duty games made in recent years.

A few tweets point out that the game was a turning point for the series, especially for multiplayer and campaign, even though later updates like Warzone integrations may have hurt its experience.

There is also clear criticism of newer titles, with users saying the old game is still performing well while recent releases are struggling.

Fans praised Modern Warfare (2019) and disappointment with the newer games, with many players feeling that classic Call of Duty still holds up today.

Also, Steam numbers do not show everything. Many players now use Xbox Game Pass, where Call of Duty games are available from day one. So, some players may not be counted on Steam.

Even after many years, this game is still getting attention again because of its low price and good gameplay.
