Meta and AMD just announced a big, long-term deal. Meta will use up to 6GW of AMD’s powerful Instinct GPUs to run its AI systems. That’s a huge amount of computing power like enough to light up entire cities, but for AI instead.

The news came out on February 24, 2026. It’s not a one-off buy. The two companies will work closely together for years. They’ll match their plans for chips (hardware), full computer setups (systems), and the software that runs everything. This teamwork helps them build and improve AI tech super fast.

Shipments of the first GPUs start in late 2026. They’ll go into special racks called Helios. Meta and AMD designed these racks together. Meta first showed them off last year at a big tech event called the Open Compute Project Global Summit. Helios is built to handle giant AI jobs without wasting energy.

Why is this happening? Meta wants to create “personal superintelligence” for everyone. Think super-smart AI helpers on your phone or computer. But today’s AI needs tons of power to train and run. Meta’s old setups aren’t enough anymore. This AMD partnership helps fix that. It’s like adding more engines to a rocket to go faster and farther.

Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, is excited. He said: “We’re thrilled to partner with AMD for efficient AI computing. This helps us spread out our tech sources. I see AMD as a key friend for many years.” AMD’s boss, Dr. Lisa Su, agreed. She said: “We’re proud to grow our work with Meta. Together, we’ll make fast, power-saving AI gear perfect for their needs. This puts AMD right in the middle of the world’s biggest AI projects.”

This deal is part of Meta’s “portfolio approach.” Instead of sticking with one supplier, Meta mixes tech from many companies. They also make their own chips called MTIA (Meta Training and Inference Accelerator). It’s like not putting all your eggs in one basket. This makes Meta’s setup stronger and ready for surprises, like chip shortages.

AMD stock jumped 10% after Meta’s big AI deal. Shares hit $210.93, up from around $192, as shown in @HamzaY8890’s chart. Even with 37% gains this year, investors got excited. Meta will buy up to 6GW of AMD’s powerful GPUs starting late 2026. The deal includes special warrants Meta gets 10% of AMD shares if goals are met. It’s a win for AMD in the AI chip race against Nvidia.

Meta calls this their “Meta Compute” plan. The goal? Grow AI super fast to lead the pack. With diverse partners, they can roll out new, efficient hardware that works perfectly with their software. This means better AI for billions of users worldwide like smarter chatbots, image generators, and more.

Meta has mostly used Nvidia chips before. Now, they’re branching out to AMD. Why? It cuts risks if one company has problems. AMD’s Instinct GPUs are strong rivals to Nvidia’s. They’re great for AI tasks like thinking (inference) and learning (training).

The 6GW figure is mind-blowing. A big AI data center might use 100-500MW. So, 6GW could power many such centers. Helios racks keep things cool and green, which is key as AI guzzles electricity. For AMD, it’s a win. They get a spot in Meta’s huge AI empire. This could help them catch up in the hot AI chip race.

This partnership speeds up AI for all. Meta gets reliable power. AMD gets a top client. And we might see cooler AI tools sooner. (Note: This includes forward-looking info. Check Meta’s latest SEC filings for risks
