No Goodbye, to RTX 5070 Ti—Asus Fixes the Rumor Amid Supply Chaos

Asus initially appeared to be discontinuing its RTX 5070 Ti and 16GB RTX 5060 Ti graphics cards due to a RAM shortage squeezing mid-range 50-series GPU supply, but the company has since clarified it has no such plans.

Hardware Unboxed reported Thursday that Asus informed them these models were placed in “end-of-life” status amid retailer sourcing issues in Australia. However, Asus issued a statement refuting this: “Certain media may have received incomplete information from an ASUS PR representative… The GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB have not been discontinued or designated as end-of-life (EOL). ASUS has no plans to stop selling these models.”

The company said the current changes are due to limited memory supply, which has temporarily affected production and restocking. This has caused shortages in some markets, but sales have not stopped completely.Asus affirmed it will continue supporting both products while working with partners to stabilize supply.

Nvidia backs this, with GeForce PR director Ben Berraondo confirming to The Verge: “We continue to ship all GeForce SKUs” despite strong demand and constrained memory. Hardware Unboxed noted the issue seemed Asus-specific, and PNY confirmed its Dual-Slot Slim RTX 5070 Ti launches in February at major retailers.

This reflects industry-wide RAM pressures, as Micron VP Christopher Moore told Wccftech: firms are standardizing variants to maximize output for AI and high-end needs, sidelining consumer mid-tier jumps like 12 GB to 16 GB. The impact includes higher prices for PCs, gaming systems, and smartphones, as premium GPUs are being given priority. However, the clarification reassures customers that production is still ongoing, even though restocking delays continue due to the shortage.
