Apple Mac Studio and Studio Display Get Big M5 Updates in Spring 2026 They Come Soon After New MacBook Pros with M5 Chips

Apple will release its Mac Studio desktop with powerful M5 chips in spring 2026. The Studio Display monitor will update too. This happens right after MacBook Pros get M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. Tech reporter Mark Gurman shared this in his Power On newsletter.
New MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips will now reportedly launch as early as the week of March 2 🚨

Apple refreshes its Mac computers almost every year. They use their own Apple Silicon chips. The Mac Studio last got M4 Max and M3 Ultra chips on March 5, 2025. It missed a full update in 2025. Now M5 chips are coming.
The Mac mini also gets a boost in 2026. It was redesigned in October 2024 with M4 and M4 Pro chips. No one knows the exact date yet. Apple had problems making enough M5 chips. Demand for AI parts slowed things down.
Apple introduced its new M5 chips gradually. They first appeared in the iPad Pro, the Apple Vision Pro headset, and the basic MacBook Pro models toward the end of 2025. Desktop Macs are expected to get the M5 chips later.
For a long time, people have been asking for an improved Studio Display. In August 2025, leaks from iOS 26 suggested that new monitors were being prepared. Then, in December, more leaks said the display could support 120Hz ProMotion, which would make scrolling and animations much smoother. Since nothing has been released yet, a launch in spring seems like a good and logical time.
Public reactions on (X) Twitter to this news reflect strong excitement mixed with practical concerns.
One user expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming devices, hoping for major performance improvements and carefully weighing options like the M5 Pro, M5 Max, or even the M4 Air to complete their Apple ecosystem, showing anticipation but also indecision due to many choices.
I am so excited for these.
I am hoping for some significant jumps.
The M5 Pro or M5 Max may just finally be what I complete my ecosystem with.
Or
Maybe just the M4 Air or M5 pro.
Decisions, decisions… 🤔🤷♂️

Another user humorously commented that if the launch happens in the second week of March, Apple would be moving extremely fast with its upgrade cycle, joking that while productivity would increase, their bank account would suffer.
If this launches March 2 week, Apple just speedran the upgrade cycle 🏎️💨. My productivity: 📈 My bank account: 📉

Spring 2026 is busy for Apple. iPhone 17e comes soon. Maybe new Apple Home products. Updates to Apple TV, HomePod, and HomePod mini. Better Apple Intelligence before WWDC conference.
These changes mean top speed for pros and creators. M5 chips handle tough jobs like video editing, 3D work, and AI tools. The new display will be smooth with high refresh rate. Mac mini is great for small spaces with big power. Mac Studio suits high-end desks.
Apple’s smart plan keeps new tech flowing without delays.
