HYDERABAD, India (GizTimes) —Apple is working on a new and better version of Siri for future updates like iOS 27 on iPhones, iPadOS 27 on iPads, and macOS 27 on Macs. This new Siri may have a feature called Extensions, which will let users add other AI assistants, like ChatGPT or Google Gemini, and use them together with Siri.
This information was shared by Mark Gurman in his newsletter on March 29, 2026. He reported that he found these details in Apple’s early internal test versions of iOS 27, giving a preview of what the company might be planning for the future. The app works like those popular AI chat apps, where you can type or talk to Siri and see your old chats. It fits perfectly on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
This new Siri app turns the old voice helper into a smart chatbot. You chat by typing or speaking, look back at past talks, and make it better with Extensions. That’s like a store in the App Store for extra AI tools from other apps. Apple’s settings screen says: Extensions let AI from your apps work with Siri and more. It builds on how Siri already uses ChatGPT since iOS 18.2, and now adds others like Claude.
Gurman says the App Store will have its own spot for these Extensions, an easy place for app makers to share AI add-ons. The first test version for developers comes in June 2026, and everyone gets it in September, probably with new iPhones.
Siri is getting even more changes in iOS 27. It has a fresh look, maybe using the iPhone’s Dynamic Island for fast access. Apple’s apps will have an Ask Siri button everywhere, and a Write with Siri button right above your keyboard to help write stuff quickly.
We don’t know yet if you need a fancy iPhone 15 Pro or newer for the app, or if older ones work too. Either way, Siri will be a super helpful AI that mixes Apple’s stuff with outside smarts. These rumors show Apple is racing with companies like OpenAI and Google in AI. Gurman is usually right, so keep an eye on Apple’s big summer event for more news
The announcement received a mix of criticism, analysis, and skepticism on Twitter.
One user said that turning Siri into an extensions platform shows Apple may be relying on developers to make its AI assistant more useful, suggesting it cannot do everything on its own.
Another user brought up a legal angle, saying Apple might eventually have to allow users to replace Siri, similar to how Microsoft had to handle Internet Explorer, and joked that Apple might be trying to act early on this.
Meanwhile, another user did not believe the news at all. They said Siri is not really improving and called the claims false, showing clear doubt and mistrust.
