Google launched Nano Banana 2 today. It’s a new AI tool for making pictures, called Gemini 3.1 Flash Image. It’s live right now in the Gemini app for everyone. This version beats the old Nano Banana from August. Pictures look better with more detail, bright colors, sharp edges, and exact matches to what you describe.

Big wins for makers: It keeps the same look for up to 5 people or characters and 14 things in one go. Great for making story scenes or videos without changes. You pick sizes from small (512 pixels) to huge (4K) and shapes for phone posts or big screens. Everything stays clear and eye-catching.

Now it has pro tricks at fast speed: Writes text perfectly in any language. Knows real-world stuff to draw accurate animals, places, or objects. Turn lists into charts, notes into drawings, or ideas into ads. Super handy for work or fun.

In the Gemini app, it takes over from Nano Banana Pro in all speeds: Fast, Thinking, and Pro. Paid Pro or Ultra users can still use the old Pro version from a menu for super exact jobs. New style templates make it easy to pick looks like “fun cartoon” or “real photo.” It comes to AI Mode, Google Lens, and Flow, too. Devs get early access to tools like AI Studio, APIs, Antigravity, Vertex AI, and CLI. Use it for quick makes or save Pro for perfect ones.

Public reactions on (X) Twitter to Nano Banana 2 show a clear divide in user experience.

One user shared badges they created with the new version, suggesting satisfaction and willingness to showcase results.

Another user complained that Nano Banana 2 does not deliver “pro level” quality and feels worse compared to Nano Banana Pro, asking that it be restored for Gemini Ultra users.

The third user compared two images made with the same prompt. They said Nano Banana 2 created a strange image with two heads, while Nano Banana 1 had made a normal image before. Because of this, they asked for the old version to be brought back.

In contrast, a fourth user strongly praised Nano Banana 2, calling it a major upgrade due to features like real-time world awareness, live web data, and high-resolution 2K/4K output.

Safety is smart. It adds invisible SynthID marks. Soon, C2PA tags will show if AI made it and how. No more fake picture worries full clear info in Gemini.

This follows Nano Banana Pro from November (Gemini 3 Pro Image). Google makes pro picture tools easy and fast for all. Gamers can design characters. Marketers make ads. Anyone can turn thoughts into cool images. Try it in Gemini now!
