HYDERABAD, India (GizTimes) —The makers of the Spider-Man video games, Insomniac Games, will release Marvel’s Wolverine on September 15, 2026. It is a single-player action game made only for the PlayStation 5. The story takes place in the exact same world as the studio’s Spider-Man games.
Actor Liam McIntyre provides the voice for the main character, Logan. Players will fight using his famous metal claws and fast healing powers. Other well-known X-Men characters, like Mystique, Omega Red, and the giant robot Sentinels, are also in the game.
The creators say this game is meant for older players and has a much darker, serious story than Spider-Man. It will also be updated to look and run better on the newer PlayStation 5 Pro console.
Insomniac first announced they were making the game in 2021. The team wanted to make a Wolverine game because they felt he shared a goal with Spider-Man: fighting to protect people who cannot protect themselves.
Making the game has not been easy. In December 2023, computer hackers broke into the company’s private files. The hackers posted early test videos of the game, story secrets, and private details about the workers on the internet. The studio said this was very hard on the team, but they did not let it stop them from finishing the game on time.
The team also got new leaders during the process. In 2024, Marcus Smith and Mike Daly took charge of directing the game. They had already worked together on another hit game, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
Marvel’s Wolverine is just the start. Sony and Marvel have made a deal to make a total of three X-Men games. For the next several years, these new X-Men games will only be available on PlayStation.
