Starfield will launch on PlayStation 5 on April 7, 2026. The game will include all previous updates, along with a new free update called Free Lanes and the Terran Armada story DLC. These will release at the same time on PS5, Xbox, and PC. The price has also been reduced to $49.99.
The PS5 version uses the DualSense controller features. Players will feel different weapon actions through the triggers. The controller light will show health and ship status. The touchpad can be used to change views and open the map. There is also vibration feedback and sound from the controller for in-game communication.
For PS5 Pro users, there are two options. One mode runs the game in 4K at 30 fps. The other mode gives smoother gameplay at 60 fps with better visuals.
The “Free Lanes” update is the biggest update so far. It adds cruise mode, which lets players travel between planets in real time. It also brings new space events, better outpost features, a Milliewhale pet, and a new vehicle called the “Moon Jumper.”
This release also shows a change in Microsoft’s plans. The company is now bringing some of its games to other platforms. Starfield is coming to PS5 about two and a half years after it first launched in 2023.
People on X (Twitter) are reacting in a mix of jokes and interest. Some are making fun of the situation, saying the game will now be called “good” just because it is coming to PlayStation.
Others are teasing Xbox fans who earlier believed the game would never come to PS5.
At the same time, many PlayStation users are happy and feel it was overdue.
Some are curious about how the game will run with the new update.
There are also players who didn’t enjoy it before on PC but are willing to try it again, hoping it will feel better now.
Since launch, the game has added over 1,000 community creations and several improvements. PS5 players will get all of this content from the first day.
