Ubisoft has released Patch 1.4 for Anno 117: Pax Romana. The update adds support for the new Marvellous Mosaic Pack Cosmetic DLC and fixes several major problems in the game. The download size is large — 40.65 GB on Ubisoft Connect and 77.06 GB on Xbox. Raytracing has been turned off on consoles for now because of a technical issue. Ubisoft said it will bring it back in a future update.
The update focuses mainly on fixing bugs and improving performance.
Players who had problems with escort quests should now see them working properly. The issue where street range lines would disappear has also been fixed. On PlayStation 5, high mouse input lag has been resolved, which should make controls feel smoother.
Ubisoft has also made changes to the game’s economy. Settling XL islands now costs more, so players will need to plan their expansion more carefully. Some islands in the Latium province were wrongly categorized before, which affected land taxes. This has now been corrected to make taxes fair.
The update also improves multiplayer stability. Ubisoft fixed several desync problems and crashes across all platforms.
There are some quality-of-life improvements too. The Jump to feature for units and ships works better now. Players can cycle through troops using the Tab key. The Trade, Statistics, and Accolades menus have been updated for better clarity. Attack indicators have been improved and now include colorblind-friendly options.
To improve performance, traders will now take different routes instead of grouping together in one place. The maximum tool size has been limited to 80×80 to keep the game running smoothly.
Players on X (Twitter) had mixed reactions to the Patch 1.4 announcement.
One was happy to see many bugs fixed but were also worried that the update might create new problems, like what happened before. He also mentioned strange ground textures showing up after destroying a Villa and a trade bug where the amount resets to “1” even after setting a higher number. He said this bug is very frustrating because it can quietly damage the in-game economy before you notice it.
Another player was surprised by the 77 GB update size on Xbox, saying it feels almost like downloading the full game again.
Some console players also asked Ubisoft to add a 40fps mode for those using 120Hz screens.
The patch also includes many small fixes for art, audio, and text issues.
However, some known issues remain. Players may see an error message saying “Water Cannot Flow Uphill,” which can stop certain aqueducts from being built. Raytracing is also still disabled on consoles until the next update.
All details are based on Ubisoft’s official Patch 1.4 notes.
