The new chapter of Slay the Spire, the popular roguelike deck-building game, has launched in Early Access. Players can start playing the game now while the developers continue to improve it with feedback from the community. The Early Access version is not complete, and the developers say the game may change as more features and improvements are added.

The team behind the game said Early Access is important because player feedback helps them balance the gameplay, fix issues, and add useful features. It also allows them to test new ideas and mechanics before the final release. Players who join during this stage can share feedback through the game’s tools and community platforms such as Discord.

The developers expect the game to stay in Early Access for about one to two years. They explained that the first Slay the Spire also spent around 1.5 years in Early Access before its full release. The final version of the sequel is planned to include more gameplay content, improved balance, bug fixes, more visual effects, better hardware support, and support for more languages. The developers also confirmed that the price of the game will increase after Early Access ends.

In the story, the Spire has reopened after staying dormant for 1,000 years. It is now more dangerous and filled with new enemies and challenges. Players must climb the tower by building a deck of cards, collecting relics, and making strategic choices during each run.

Every climb is different because the game changes each time it is played. Players will face different enemies, events, and rewards during their journey. The game also adds new cards, relics, and potions that can help players build different strategies or create new risks during battles.

The game features five playable characters. Some of them return from the original game, while two are completely new. Each character has a unique set of cards and a different playstyle. Players can also discover more about their background and the world of the Spire as they continue playing.

One of the biggest additions in the sequel is a cooperative multiplayer mode. Players can climb the Spire alone or join with up to four players to face challenges together. The co-op mode includes special cards and team strategies that allow players to work together during battles.

The game also expands the story of the Spire. Players can unlock pieces of its history and learn more about the characters and creatures that live inside it. These story elements appear during different runs as players continue to explore the tower.

The developers said more content will be added during Early Access, including new cards, enemies, events, and environments. They plan to continue adjusting the game based on player feedback throughout development.

After the announcement, many players shared their reactions on X (formerly Twitter).
Several users said Steam started having problems because so many people were trying to buy the game at the same time. One user joked that the game “crashed Steam” because they were unable to complete the purchase.

Another user said he was upset and believed the developers likely knew the launch would bring heavy traffic, questioning why pre-orders were not available before release.

A third user described the situation as the game becoming “a victim of its own success,” meaning its popularity caused the store issues.

For Windows users, the minimum system requirements include a 64-bit version of Windows 10, a dual-core 2.0 GHz processor, 4 GB of RAM, and a graphics card that supports DirectX 12 or Vulkan with 1 GB of VRAM. The recommended setup includes a quad-core 3.0 GHz processor, 8 GB of RAM, and a graphics card with 2 GB of VRAM. The game requires about 4 GB of storage space.

For macOS users, the game requires macOS 11.0 Big Sur with an Intel Core i5 dual-core processor, 4 GB of RAM, and a Metal-compatible graphics processor with 1 GB of VRAM. The recommended setup includes an Apple M1 chip or a quad-core Intel Core i5 processor, 8 GB of RAM, and a Metal-compatible GPU with 2 GB of VRAM. The game also requires about 4 GB of storage space.
