The new update is coming from the PlayStation Blog that Capcom has confirmed that its sci-fi game Pragmata will release on April 17, 2026, for PlayStation 5. The game was first announced in 2020 but was delayed several times. Now, it is finally close to launch. A demo called Sketchbook is also available for players to try.
Pragmata is a partnership between Hugh, a man in a high-tech suit, and Diana, a young girl with advanced hacking abilities. The game builds around how these two work together, rather than focusing on a single playable style.
One of the key ideas behind the game is its mix of combat and hacking. It is not designed as a standard shooter. Players must use Diana’s hacking skills during fights to break enemy defenses, disable traps, and affect multiple enemies at once. The system, described by the developers as a “seamless blend,” pushes players to think while they fight instead of relying only on weapons.
Resource management also plays an important role. Players use something called Hacking Nodes to perform actions. These are limited and need to be used carefully. Nodes can be refilled at safe points called Shelters or found while exploring, but using them too quickly can leave players exposed in tougher moments.
As players move forward in the game, they gain the ability to carry more nodes and improve them. This allows for stronger combinations, where hacking can even become more effective than traditional weapons. The developers said they wanted players to feel more powerful over time rather than making the game harder in a frustrating way.
On the technical side, Pragmata uses an updated version of Capcom’s RE Engine. The team focused on making its mechanical and futuristic environments feel detailed and realistic by adding small visual elements like surface textures and lighting effects. The game also uses PlayStation 5 features such as 3D audio, which changes how sound behaves depending on the setting—for example, the difference between enclosed spaces and the silence of the moon.
The developers also shared that the long delays were partly due to the pressure of meeting expectations. They wanted to make sure the final game matched the idea they originally had.
Fans on X (Twitter) are mostly reacted excited but some still have doubts. Many people trust Capcom and believe the game will be great based on their recent work.
Some players said the demo changed their mind and made them interested because the gameplay feels different and fun.
Others liked the idea of mixing hacking and shooting, saying it sounds simple and exciting.
A few people are still unsure and joked that the game feels more like a showcase for new console power because it was delayed for so long.
For players who return after finishing the game, a second playthrough will unlock new outfits for both Hugh and Diana, offering a different visual experience.
With the release date now confirmed, Pragmata is finally set to arrive after a long wait.
