Motorola just showed off its first “book-style” foldable phone called the Razr Fold. It costs €1,999 in Europe (around $2,340 USD). This big-screen phone has top specs like a super-fast Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip, 16GB RAM, a huge 6,000 mAh battery, and support for a stylus pen. It aims to beat phones like the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Google Pixel Fold.

When the phone is folded, it is small enough to fit easily in your pocket. It measures 160.1 x 73.6 x 10 mm (about 6.3 x 2.9 x 0.4 inches) and weighs 243 grams (8.6 ounces). When you open it, it becomes like a small tablet. In this mode, it measures 144.5 x 160.1 x 4.7 mm (about 5.7 x 6.3 x 0.2 inches), and it feels much thinner. The inside screen is large, at 8.1 inches. It has a very clear display (2484 x 2232 resolution), smooth scrolling at 120Hz, and can get extremely bright (up to 6,200 nits), so you can see it clearly even in bright sunlight.
The outer screen is 6.6 inches. It also looks sharp (2520 x 1080 resolution) and feels very fast with a 165Hz refresh rate. The cover screen is protected by strong Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, which helps protect it from scratches and damage.
It runs on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, which is great for games and apps. You get 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, so it handles heavy tasks easily. The battery is big at 6,000 mAh (using special silicon-carbon tech). Charge it wired at 80W (super fast), wireless at 50W, or even charge other devices at 5W. Cameras are strong: three 50MP ones on the back (main, wide-angle, 3x zoom) plus a 32MP selfie camera inside and a 20MP cover camera.
Pair it with the Moto Pen Ultra stylus (sold separately). The pen senses pressure, tilt, and ignores your hand—perfect for drawing or notes. It lasts 3 hours per charge; just 2 minutes gives 1 more hour. Other features: Wi-Fi, NFC, 5G (eSIM or physical card), stereo speakers, three mics, side fingerprint unlock, and USB-C port for charging, data, or TV output. It’s dust- and water-resistant (IP49-rated) in white or blue.
Public reactions on the Reddit thread r/Terraria show concern about software support and market reality.
One user said it does not make sense to spend over $1,000 on a phone if it will not get regular updates. They are worried about getting good long-term value and keeping the phone secure.
Another user said that people in this subreddit have specific tastes, but most buyers do not choose phones based on how many updates they get. Instead, they buy brands they already know or phones that look good in stores. That is why iPhone and Samsung Galaxy phones are still very popular. They also said that Motorola foldable phones may sell better than the Pixel Fold because Motorola has a stronger presence in physical stores.
A third user reinforced the update argument by pointing out that iPhones and Galaxy devices have received software updates for many years.
It comes with Android 16 and gets 7 big updates plus 7 years of security fixes. Available soon in Europe after Mobile World Congress US price might be a bit lower. Motorola made flip phones for years, but this is their first book-fold that opens wide like a book. The screens are bright and smooth. Battery beats most foldables. A stylus makes it fun for work or art. Cameras zoom nicely. It’s thin when open but feels solid.
It’s over $2,000. The pen costs extra. At 243 grams, it’s not the lightest. But for power users who want a foldable tablet-phone, it’s packed with premium stuff.
